The First President of Kazakhstan was saddened  by the news of the death of Javier Pérez de Cuéllar, the Peruvian diplomat and politician and the former UN Secretary-General.

“In 1991, I sent a statement to his name to admit the Republic of Kazakhstan to the UN. Javier Pérez de Cuéllar has made an important contribution to the process of our country's joining this Organization,” the telegram says.

“At this sad moment, I express my deepest condolences to the family and relatives of the politician, as well as to his colleagues at the United Nations,” the telegram addressed to the current UN Secretary General António Guterres says.
