On September 27, the Nazarbayev Сenter hosted the youth conference "II international model of the UN of Central Asia" dedicated to the Year of Youth in Kazakhstan. The project is implemented by the Coordination Сenter of the UN Model with the support of the Library and the Fund of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbassy.

The conference is attended by more than 250 delegates. These are active youth of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, China, India, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Uzbekistan. The purpose of the two-day dialogue platform is to involve young people in solving global challenges of the world community.

The conference is held in the mode of open discussion of global ideas, during which students and high school students reproduce the work of the UN bodies. Within two days, the conference participants will act as Plenipotentiary delegates of the UN member states, where they will defend the interests of the represented country. The discussions are also attended by the UN Permanent coordinator in Kazakhstan Norimasa Shimomura, former Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan to the UN Madina Dzharbusynova, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

- Participation of young people in the" Model UN" gives an opportunity to fulfill themselves, improve their knowledge of foreign languages, acquire leadership and public speaking skills. Young ambitious people should aspire to power. The conference, reproducing the work of the UN bodies is an educational format of the international level, allowing to discuss independently on various global issues, learn to come to a compromise and strengthen ties between countries, - said at the opening of the conference Director of the Library of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbassy Amerkhan Rakhimzhanov.  

Deputy Executive Director of the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbassy Sultan Aitzhanov stressed:

- Now Model UN is not only a dialogue platform but also an international youth movement. The participants of this movement are young people with different views of the world but they all share one thing - the desire to make the world a better place. In turn, the Foundation of the first President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, supporting the conference, aims to help young people to realize these ideas.

The conference includes discussion of such global challenges as the preservation of endangered languages, the problem of an arms race in outer space, the impact of sanctions on international politics, etc.


The solutions each of the above issues are made by the members of the relevant UN bodies (Security Council, General Assembly, UNICEF, ECOSOC, world health organization, etc. according to the competence and qualifications of the participants).

Today, the conference participants will present their positions on the given issues for further discussion of the conflict solutions. And tomorrow, on September 28, participants will prepare draft resolutions and vote will take place. As a result of the conference, the resolutions that gather the majority of votes will be adopted. After the adoption of the resolutions, the distinguished delegates and chairmen will be awarded.
